A dedicated server is essential for a business critical web site or service. You'll be able to ensure your web site and services are running without being influenced by the possible effects of other customers on a shared solution as well as ensuring you have all of the server resources dedicated just for you, as well as giving you the freedom to set things up your way.
But what about the day to day tasks and management of your server? If you have your own experienced server administrator or IT staff then you might have all the bases covered but what if you don't or just don't need the extra administrative burden or worry?
For the company that needs the power of their own dedicated server but does not wish the involvement of server administration, we are able to offer you a server management package. You'll have the benefit of our extensive resources and experienced server administrators. People that not only know how to run your server, but have experience in looking after servers that simply must run 24 hours a day 7 days a week non stop in an internet facing and often hostile environment.
Our Gold Management service costs just £ 300 per month and includes the following services:
Monitoring
Our engineers will monitor your servers uptime and respond day or night to any service affecting issues. Your server will be added to the same monitoring we use for our own production servers ensuring you the fastest possible response to any issue.
Disk space, processor utilisation, memory, bandwidth
Monitoring that sufficient space is available at all times, and taking necessary steps to ensure efficient use of space.
Operating system
We perform log file rotation/compression, adding and removing users, network + IP configuration and scheduled tasks configuration.
We will also install any patches hot fixes and service packs as appropriate to your server as and when required.
Firewall protection
We will manage and adjust the firewall rule set for specific requirements at your instruction.
Virus protection
A scanning agent is installed on your server which is then added to the anti-virus farm. This communicates with a central server which ensures twice daily that each server in the farm has the very latest virus definition file and scanning engine.
Backup strategy
Automated backup.
Your server will be added to our nightly automated backup schedule to include up to 5 gigabytes of data – monthly data volumes over this are chargeable - contact us for details.
This will be done daily on an incremental basis and weekly on a full basis. Where specific critical information and data is identified this will be monitored daily to ensure the validity of back up files.
